A good place to start with Thai is the numbers. You learn few basic principles you need to use in any Thai word.

Any word in Thai can be said in 5 different ways and each way change the meaning of the word. I would recommend to listen very carefully to the video. Try to classify each number by one of the following categories:

1. Strong
2. Soft
3. Increasing
4. Decreasing
5. Normal

• 3 = Sam
• 4 = Sii
• 5 = Haa
• 6 = Hok
• 7 = Jed
• 8 = Pad
• 9 = Gao
• 10 = Sip
• 11 = Sip et
• 12 = Sip song
• 13 = Sip sam
• 20 = Yee sip
• 30 = Sam sip
• 40 = Sii sip
• 100 = Nueng roi
• 1.000 = Nueng pan
• 10.000 = Nueng muen
• 100.000 = Nueng saen
• 1.000.000 = Nueng laan
